What is this place? (by Gooseberry) ECTOCOMP 2025

You open your eyes. This isn´t reality. What is this place? It looks like you´re in a house made out of wood. It´s messy and probably has been abandoned for a few years now. There is a door that looks like it could lead outside. But there are also stairs going up. Where will you go? [[Go upstairs.]] [[Try if the door is open.]]

You walk upstairs. The old wood is surprisingly not making any sounds at all. Upstairs there are two doors. A red door and a yellow door. Well, witch one do you chose? [[Red door]] [[Yellow door]]

You walk towards the door... but you stop right in front of it. Are you sure about this? [[Yes]] [[No]]

You open the door. A dark forest is in front of you. Too dark and deep to be real. There is something laying in the grass in front of you. [[What is it?]] Or maybe you should just [[Go upstairs.]]

Why choose this option, then? Try the other one. [[Go upstairs.]]

You walk towards the object. The grass is cold but not cold enough to be real. You look at the [[grass.]]

But this world in fake right? [[Take it.]] or maybe you can still go back inside and [[Go upstairs.]]

Bad choice. Now that you have that, your abable to protect yourself. And this world knows that. Be awere there will be 0ˇ-§ôäň+01)äô1ú.-ň§§ attacking you. Some are friendly tho. [[Walk into the forest]]

You step into the forest. But all you see is darkness. Pinch black. You dont run into any trees tho. It´s as if they all dissapeared. [[Continue walking]] [[Look back]]

You continue walking through the forest. Everything is dark. You can´t see anything at all. Just the axe in your hands... Even the ground is dark. So you just [[keep walking forward.]]

You can´t see the house anymore. No trees. No light. All you can see is the axe in your hands. //There is no way out!// [[Continue walking]]

Suddenly you bump into something. What is this?! DO SOMETHING QUICKLY! [[Swing the axe at it.]] [[Run away from it.]] [[Don´t do anything.]]

You swing the axe, black liquid splashing over your face. Blood? No. Blood isn´t black, right? [[Swing the axe again.]] [[Run away from it.]]

You think you can run away from something that isn´t even human? //bad ending// //[[play again->Place]]//

You blink. And your in your bedroom. Kitchen knife in your hands. You´re holding it like an axe. Standing infront of your closet. Great thing you woke up and escaped that dream. Sleep walking can be pretty scary after all. The question is. How did you get that knife into your bedroom? //good end//

You swing the axe again. More black liquid splashing over your face and body. You blink once and suddenly the black place turns white. All you can see are those weird yellow things moving foward you. KILL THEM! [[Kill them all with the axe.]] [[Don´t do anything.->Dont do anything.]]

You swing your axe around, killing them all. The warm black liquid is running down the axe and your clothes. They are all dead? [[What now?]]

You close your eyes for a few seconds. When you open them, you don´t have the axe anymore. You are back in the house, standing in front of the stairs. [[Go upstairs.]]

You won. Let´s go back into to the reality. [[Reality]]

The world around you becomes blurry. And suddenly you´re standing in the living room. The old axe from your dad is in your shaking hands [[...->body]]

You walk in. Tthe cold air is hitting your body. You walk inside the room. Even though it´s a cold room, the walls have warm collors. Almoust like ... your room? This place feels cold but oddly comforting at the same time. Maybe you should try the [[yellow door->Yellow door]] instead. Or, do you want to [[stay here?->Stay here]]

You step into the room. The door is shuting behind you. It´s your house. And it doesn´t feel so fake anymore. It´s real. //the end// //[[play again->Place]]//

You close the door behind yourself. The air around you suddenly grows warm. You stand in the midle of the room. Is this real? Probably not. [[Look around]]

You look around the room. You can´t see anything at first, but when you look closer you can see that there is a key laying on your bed. It wasn´t there a moment ago if you remember right. [[Take the key.]]

You walk towards the bed and take the key into your right hand. It´s light. It doesn´t feel like your holdnig a key at all. Where can the key be from? [[Look under the bed.]] [[Look into the closet.]]

You look under the bed. There is a [[pink box]]. Maybe the key if from it? [[Pull the pink box out.]] Or, maybe you should [[look into the closet->Look into the closet.]] first.

You open the closet door to find a brown door inside. [[Try the key.]]

Your hand burns as you touch the box. And before you know it you´re falling forward, hitting the ground hard. //the end// //[[play again->Place]]//

Don´t touch that box! It´s not real. Even though this whole world isn´t real. [[Pull the pink box out.]] [[keep checking->Look under the bed.]]

You unlock the door. And step inside the room. The door shuts behind you. It´s your bedroom. But this time it is real. //good ending// //[[play again->Place]]//

The object is an axe. It looks suspiciosly real compared to the rest of this place. There is something all around the grass and even on the axe too. It is [[...->old blood]]

Old blood. This axe must have been laying here for some time now. [[Take it.]] [[Looks too real for me to take.]]

There is a body in front of you. Blood is everywhere. You don´t even recognize the person in front of you. Welcome back to the reality. Maybe the axe was real after all. //the end// //[[play again->Place]]//
